Myron Sherwood was a blacksmith. He served in the Mexican-AmericanWar as a Sergeant in Battery S, 3rd US Regiment, US Artillery. He enlisted10 Sep 1846 at Rochester, NY and was honorably discharged 10 SEP1881 at Fort Independence, MS. (Veterans Bureau Record).
He also served in the Civil War as a Private in Company L, New YorkCavalry. Enrolled 15 AUG 1864, Olean, NY, was mustered into service thesame day at Dunkirk, NY. Honorably discharged at the age of 42 on 23May 1865. (War record) He was granted a pension of $4 a month for afractured leg suffered in service which was later increased to $8 a month,which, after his death, his widow continued to receive for the rest of herlife.
