Myron was a blacksmith. He served in the Mexican-American War as aSergeant in Battery D, 3rd U. S. Regiment, U. S. Artillery. He enlisted 10Sep 1846 at Rochester, NY and was honorably discharged 10 Sep 1851, atFort Independence, MA (Veterans Bureau records)
He also served in the Civil War as a Private in Company L, New YorkCavalry. He enrolled 15, Aug 1864, at Olean, NY, was mustered into servicethe same day at Dunkirk, NY. He was honorably discharged at the age of 42on 23 May 1865. (War record) He was granted a pension of $4 per monthfor a fractured leg suffered in service which was later increased to $8 a monthwhich, after his death, his widow continued to receive for the rest of her life.
