Amasa Scoville lived for a time in Saratoga County, NY, where his sonGeorge was born. A deed on record there shows the purchase ofproperty by Amasa Scoville in Saratoga County although the town is notnamed (Dated 8 DEC 1792, recorded 21 AUG 1793. A later deed onrecord there dated April 1797, recorded 9 JUN 1801, reads: "AmasaScovil and Elizabeth Scoville to John Mayford, residents of Grantors,Saratoga, consideration 90 pounds, lot no. 9, patent of Kay adv inSaratoga. Witnessed by Amos Hawley, Samuel Scovil." (Brother of Amasa)
In 1825, at the age of 61, Amasa and his wife moved to Ashtabula, OH,where they lived the rest of their lives. They were among the first settlersof this town and Amasa lies buried in the old cemetery on which thepresent public library now stands.
