Homer opened a public house about 1815 in Massachusetts and signed anote with W. H. Spencer on Nov 15, 1825 in connection with opening a bankin Genesco, New York. Alexander settled in Sullivan County, New York.

According to 1810 U.S. Census, his name was Zedock ‎(not Zedic)‎. He and his wife were over 44 years old. They had 7 children living at home ‎(4 male and 3 female)‎. In 1810 they lived in Northampton, Montgomery County, New York.
