Show Details Shared Note: - Martha Menzel went to nurses training in 1894 in Breslau (capital ofSilesia. After graduation she worked for many years in a TB Sanitarium.

Martha and her daughter, Ruth, sailed for the USA aboard the steamshipManchuria, from Hamburg, Germany, arriving at Ellis Island on 24 Nov1920. Family tradition says this was the second ship from Germany afterWWI.

On Dec. 2 they went to Delaware, IA, to stay with the Roloffs. Marthatook private lessons in English, She nursed in Dubuque, IA at Sunnycrestfor seventeen years with four years interruption while Ruth went to highschool in Milwaukee. She retired in 1939 from Sunnycrest, then workedseveral years in Manchester.
