Show Details Shared Note: - Donald wanted to be a doctor, but could not afford the education. Heattended the Iowa State Teachers College, Cedar Falls, IA, and becamea teacher of manual arts. About 1924, he moved to St. Louis andbecame the manual arts teacher at Wellston High School and anathletics coach.

He became principal of Wellston High School and held that position untilhis retirement. He was fired illegally in 1968; his case went clear tothe Missouri Supreme Court, where the illegality of his firing wassustained. He chose not to sue for damages because the school hedevoted his life to could not afford to pay them ‎(several times hepassed up salary increases to help school finances)‎.

Donald was too old to serve in World War II, so in addition to his job asprincipal, he worked at Wright Aviation to help the war effort. He alsowas an air raid warden for our area.

He held a masters degree in education from the University of Missouri‎(Columbia)‎ and completed coursework for a doctorate at theUniversity of Wisconsin ‎(Madison)‎.
