Hergodparents were Maria Elisabeth Kreubel, Bachelor Johann HeinrichNeubeck ‎(Olitatenhandler of Unterhain and son of second marriage ofJohann Georg Neubeck, also an Olitatenhandler of Unterhain)‎ andJohann Nicol Lesselberg ‎(Olitatenhandler of Unterhain)‎.
She married Johann Christian Unbehaun in Unterhain, on December31st, 1848. Bans were posted the 3rd and 4th Sunday of Advent andthe Sunday after Christmas.

John Chris and WIlhelmina sailed to America on the ship "Rhein", whichsailed from Marsailles under Captain P. Poop, arriving in America onApril 29, 1852. They were accompanied by Johann Nicol and ChristianeUnbehaun, his parents, and three of his siblings, Dorothea ‎(22 yrs.)‎,Carl ‎(19 yrs.)‎ and Christiane ‎(7 yrs.)‎. John was listed as "Ch.Unbehaun" and his profession "Weaver". The ship's manifest i.d. # was00007224. ‎(CD#355, "Passenger and Immigration Lists:Germans toAmerica, 1850- 1874")‎. The family settled in Hebron Township,McHenry County, IL.

John Chris and Wilhelmine are buried in Winthrop Cemetary; monumentsays he died Aug 11, 1894 ‎(photo)‎.

Per Kathy Meyer, the name "Unbehaun" originated in Thuringen anddates back to about the 11th Century, beginning with Odil derUnbehauer. "It is said that in Thuringen every other person you meetis related to an Unbehaun."
