On 9 Oct 1895 Charles married Carrie Belle Nibeck at the CommercialHouse in West Union, Iowa. They were married by Mayor William Colby.

Charles farmed in Fayette & Buchanan Counties in Iowa until 1909 whenhe moved to the Nibeck farm south of Hazleton where the couple livedfor 35 years. Charles retired in 1944 because of failing health & theymoved to Hazleton. He passed away on 21 Dec. 1948 in Hazleton &Carrie passed away on 4 March 1950 in Hazleton. STEGGAL FUNERAL WAS HELD FRIDAY
Born in Oran Township, Fayette County, IA.

Funeral services for C.C. Steggall, who died suddenly last Tuesday at hishome in Hazleton, were conducted Friday, Dec. 24 at the Presbyterianchurch in Hazleton by the Rev. S. R. Reed. Burial was in the Hazletoncemetery. Mr. Steggal was nearly 77 years old.

Charles Chancey Steggal, youngest son of Sam & Emily Steggall, was bornin Oran township, Fayette county, on Dec. 28, 1871. He was one of a 1 CONC family of 12 children. One brother, G. A. Steggal of Oelwein, and onesister, Mrs. Della Fortner of Cadot, Wisc., survive him. Three years agoMr. and Mrs. Steggall celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. Theywere the parents of four daughters; Vella, Grace, Marie and Dora. Thelatter two died in infancy.

Mr. Steggall and his wife engaged in farming, living on several farms inFayette & Buchanan counties. In 1909 they moved to the Nibeck farmsouth of Hazleton where they made their home for 35 years. In 1944,failing health made it necessary for them to retire and for the past fouryears they made their home in Hazleton. In addition to Mrs. Steggall, twodaughters survive him, Mrs. Vella Henthorn & Mrs. Grace Kalm, both ofHazleton. Also surviving are three grandchildren: Ralph Wells of DesMoines, Verle Wells and Dean Kalm of Hazleton; and two greatgrandchildren, Larene Kay & Billy Wells.
